Thomas Churchyard (1798-1865) -  "A Shepherd and his Flock in a Lane" (Suffolk)

Watercolours

Framed and glazed

Provenance Xanthus Gallery, Reymerston, Norfolk*

Measures:  Painting -  30 x 21 cms.  Outer Frame  - 52 x 43 cms.

* The Xanthus Gallery was owned by the late Philip Goodman whose provenance states that "at some stage, the watercolour was separated into two halves" although the halves have obviously been skillfully rejoined.  This is clearly shown in the images presented and does not, in our opinion, detract from the beauty of the scene depicted.

Goodman was an authority on Churchyard and presented the Bicentenary Exhibition of his work held at the Woodbridge Gallery, Suffolk in September 1998.
